JW Community Podcast

I have just become aware of a podcast called the JW Community Podcast and it is very informative and I thought I would share a link here. It was a link from a Facebook group by Alexandra James, who also has a website called JWvictims.org.

All of us have a voice now, whether you are still a Jehovah's Witness (JW) or are trying to escape from its controlling clutches and move on with your own life path. However, please do not feel you need to do any one specific thing once you decide to walk away from the JWs. My outlet is blogging and I enjoy it. I also put my words into a book and provide personal information to those curious about what it's like being raised as a JW and features talking points on dealing with that JW who may be in your life.

I believe that expressing yourself in some way can greatly help you transition away from the JW organization and I have provided many suggestions here on this blog. How about writing a journal or keeping a diary of your exit process from the JWs? Write down your feelings, your thoughts, and even think about what help you may need. Do not feel ashamed to consult a licensed therapist or psychiatrist to help you with your exit journey. Think about joining an exercise group, maybe taking a course in nutrition, or think about how you can focus on your career goals to help to ensure you have a solid foundation in order to successfully build a life outside of the JW community.

Some people enjoy oral communication or social media, that's fine, but never feel pressured you have to do anything publicly. Go inside yourself first and find out who you are. The Watch Tower corporation has kept that secret person inside of you suppressed as if it is something bad. Your heartfelt desires are not inherently bad or wrong, but should be delved into to see the person you are inside. Did you love art, painting, or athletics? Are you confused about religion? How about taking a course at your local college or delving into various non-JW sites to start your research, not only about the JW religion, but religion in general. How about your spiritual journey?  Think about how religion and spirituality are two different things. How about your work? Are you doing what makes you content and can help you prosper in life? Think about these questions and remember, there is no rush in all this. Recover at your own pace and do not always look for someone else to lead you away from the Watch Tower, you can do it yourself and hopefully a few of us ex-JWs can help you along your journey.
